Meme - “Not Yet”

We should have had a meme here yesterday, but since I wasn’t working, it didn’t feel like a Monday, so I didn’t feel like meme’ing.  I hope my logic makes at least a little bit of sense there.  Anyway, today’s meme, which is of the questionnaire variety, comes courtesy of Garysaid.com again, right here.

1) What haven’t you done yet in your life that you’d really like to do someday? Why? Will you do any of those things in the near future? Are you making progress toward them?

One of the first things that comes to mind is travel.  I’ve never been outside of North America, and there are many places overseas I would love to see—England, Scotland, Greece, Italy, France, Australia… many others.  I haven’t done it thus far because I haven’t had the money, so unless I unexpectedly win the lottery (which is a long shot at best, since I never buy lottery tickets), I doubt it will happen any time soon.  I’d love to say that I plan to retire early enough to get those things done, but in truth one of my biggest failings is my inability to plan for the future.

2) If you could completely start your life over from scratch, what would you do differently the second time around (if anything)? Why?

I’m not much into the idea of rebooting my life, to be honest.  My belief is that every decision and every choice you make contributes to the person you become, so going back and changing those decisions would make me someone completely different.  And while I am occasionally unhappy about where my life has led me (such as today), I don’t think I’m willing to completely rewrite myself in order to fix that.

3) What do you think you’ll be like when you’re 70, 80, 90, possibly even 100 years old? Where do you think you’ll be living, and what activities do you think you’ll enjoy?

Boy, this really isn’t the day for me to answer a question like this.  At the moment, I see myself in this pathetic cubicle when I’m 70, which is a more than depressing thought.  Hopefully I will still greatly enjoy such activities as petting the cats and talking back to my television set, which I imagine I will do with increasing frequency as the years and decades wear on.

4) What ages do you think have been the best for you so far? Why? What do you think of your current age ... are you enjoying it? Are you looking forward to your next birthday?

Let’s see, good ages… my pre-teen years were probably the best.  My early twenties were quite good, and my early-to-mid thirties haven’t been bad.  My current age… I don’t know, it hasn’t been a disaster.  Later this year I hit 39—that could well be a crisis.

Your turn to answer these amazingly fun and not at all depressing questions!
