Black & White World
Arabesque (1966)
Clearly Stanley Donen was eager to re-create the magic he achieved in Charade, and this movie tries darn hard every step of the way to get there. Ultimately, it fails to be as charming, witty or suspenseful. Cool camera tricks and angles seem to be an attempt to distract the viewer from the weak plot and dialogue. Gregory Peck and Sophia Loren try hard, but can’t seem to capture any chemistry. There are a few good scenes, but not nearly enough.
